Melissa has been working with Children for over 17 years now and its clear to see it is her calling as she is compassionate, patient, kind and genuinely cares for each and every Child and Family she works with. Melissa attributes her initial passion for working with Children from her Parents, siblings and growing up in a loving home. For at a young age of only 7 years old she knew she wanted every child to feel as loved as she did growing up.

In Grade Three she would volunteer during recesses and lunch to watch the Kindergarten Children. From there she went on to babysitting after school and after high school she attended the Early Childhood Education Program at Cambrian College in Ontario.

After working in Ontario for awhile she felt it was time for a change and as she always wanted to see BC (especially after the wonderful stories her Dad would tell her and her siblings when they were growing up) She decided to move out to Vancouver Island with her eldest. Shortly after moving to the Island her youngest was born. A Proud and Loving Mother of Two Melissa and her Children truly soak up Island Life as much as possible. On their off time they enjoy being outdoors as much as possible which includes camping, riding bikes, Ocean walks with their dog, swimming, long drives, and just being surrounded by the beauty of the Islands Nature when ever feasible. They also enjoy their down time which includes, reading and making stories, dance parties in their living room, relaxing with their cat and painting. When able to Melissa and her Children also volunteer with animals as much as possible.

Melissa is a strong believer in patient, kind words and gentle actions being the best way to get ones point across. As such she treats Every Child with the respect and compassion she would wish to be treated with, and whether her own Children or the Children she is working with, it is clear to see Melissa takes her responsibility to each Child seriously. You can also see Melissa is determined to have every Child (And their Family) feel the love, respect, and acceptance they deserve. Which is why she strives for her classroom to always be inclusive and full of acceptance, love, and lots of laughs.

Melissa enjoys getting to know each and every family at Leap Forward Childcare and wishing them all A Blessed Day.
